Mangalore: Suspicious Boat off Bekal Coast - Naval Force, IB Arrive at Kasargod

Mangalore, Nov 29: In the backdrop of suspicious boat found off Bekal coast a few days ago, Naval Force from Cochin and Kerala state Intelligence Bureau have arrived in city on Friday November 28 to investigate into the matter. Central Intelligence Bureau and Port officials also have arrived along with them.

Fishermen from Aajanur and Kotikulam had found the suspicious boat with six crew in an anchorage state in deep sea about 2 km away from Bekal beach at 10 am on November 21. When fishermen enquired, the crew said that the boat was bound to Karnataka from Thuthukudi, Tamil Nadu. They even said that they anchored the vessel since fuel had exhausted.

But sometime later when the fishermen were coming back from fishing, they saw the boat sailing. Since there was no fuel in the vessel, there was no chance for it to set sail. This gave rise to suspicion and the confused fishermen immediately brought the issue to the notice of the concerned officials.

But it is said that officials initially neglected the news. When they finally decided to enquire about the mysterious vessel, it had already left their territory.

However, once the news that Mumbai attackers had arrived in a boat spread, IB drew flak and they have finally initiated a detailed probe into the matter.
