Udupi: Cine Stars to Attend Madhava Anantha Jodukere Kambala on Nov 30

Udupi, Nov 29:
Dr Ramdas Pai, chairman, Manipal Education and Medical Group, will inaugurate the first Madhava Anantha Jodukere Kambala at Manipal, near here, at 8.00 am on Sunday November 30.  Entrepreneur Ashok Pai will inaugurate the ceremonial Kambala field.
 
MLA Raghupathy Bhat will hoist the Kambala flag on the occasion.  Belinje Monappa Hegde, will inaugurate the viewer’s gallery. Dr H S Ballal, pro-chancellor, Manipal University, will inaugurate the running race in the mud, and tug-of-war competitions for both men and women.
 
Around 30,000 viewers are expected at the venue to watch Madhava Anantha Jodukere Kambala including overseas students of 56 nations studying in various institutions of Manipal Group.
 
The stage programme will be held after the Kambala competitions on Sunday evening.  State chief secretary Sudhakar Rao, NRI Balakrishna Shetty Bahrain, Omprakash Mysore, district-in-charge ministers, Kannada cine artistes Ravichanran, Upendra, Ganesh, Telugu cine artistes Vinaya Ravi, and Kambala committee executive president Hariprasad Rai, will be the chief guests on the occasion.
 
Eighty pairs of buffaloes will compete with their handlers in six divisions at the Kambala.  Folk dance shows are also planned and a variety of food courts will dish out the choicest delicacies at the venue. Lions Club former governor Suresh Shetty was present at the press conference.
