Mangalore: New Bus Terminus Coming Up at Pumpwell Soon

Mangalore, Nov 26: The land acquisition process has begun for the setting up of a well-equipped bus terminus near Pumpwell, said Sameer Shukla, city municipal commissioner, on Tuesday November 26.

He was speaking at a programme organized by the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), on town development. The terminus will be set up on a 10-acre plot an a proposal has been sent to state government for a separate bus terminus at Kankanady railway station, he added.

Hi-tech bus stands at Bejai and Urwa, and modernization of Central Market will be done with private partnership.  Meanwhile, the proposal to set up hi-tech markets in Suratkal and Jeppu, is also under active consideration, added Shukla.

The existing road linking the new airport terminal at Kenjar, will be developed at a cost of Rs 16 crore.  Also, the Lady Hill–Kavoor–Maravoor road will be improved as soon as the government releases funds for this, he assured. 

Meanwhile, the municipal body is committed to laying a footpath for the convenience of pedestrians all over the town, emphasized Shukla. The repairs to pot-holed roads are on in the city and efforts have been made to provide a regular supply of drinking water. supply. The tender process has also begun for the construction of a vented dam at Thumbe, he informed.
