Mangalore: NITK Awards Doctorate to Prof Pius Pinto

Mangalore, Nov 26: Prof Pius Pinto A J has been awarded the PhD degree by National Institute of Technology, Karnataka (NITK) in Suratkal for his thesis on “Self Excited Induction Motors”.  He did his research under the guidance of Prof S S Murthy of IIT, Delhi and Prof K S Y Shastry of NITK. 

Dr Pinto is the head of the department of electronics and communication, St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor. He got the first rank in M Tech from Mangalore University in 1999 and 3rd rank in B E from Mysore University in 1976.

He has 16 years experience in construction/ commissioning and design of power stations/refineries and oil and gas installations on-shore and off-shore. Earlier he has taught in MIT and NITK.
