Mangalore: Four-day Carnatic Music Festival in City from Nov 27

Mangalore, Nov 26: Sangeetha Parishath, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, and Mangalore University, will jointly organize a four-day Carnatic music festival at Ravindra Kala Bhavan, University College, Hampankatta, from Thursday November 27.

Raghavendra Shastry, managing trustee, Sharavu Mahaganapathi Temple, will inaugurate the festival. A Mohan Rao, general manager, Corporation Bank, and Prem Kumar, registrar, Mangalore University, will be the chief guests. Meanwhile, Padmabhusan Sangeetha Kalanidhi T N Krishnan will be honoured with the title of ‘Sangeeta Samrat’ during the valedictory function on Sunday November 30. The title includes a cash award of Rs 25,000 and a citation, said a press release.

Vocalist Vidwan R K Padmanabha, Soumya, Srikant Kudmar, upcoming artists Chinmayee and Tanmayee, Vidwan Vijaya Shiva, Bombay Jayashree, and young prodigy Vinaya Sharva, will perform in the four-day programme.
