Mangalore, Nov 24: Local fishermen reported seeing an unidentified vessel anchored just a few kilometers off the Bekal coast, near Kasargod here, on Sunday November 23.

The local fishermen identified as P K Janardhan, R Yatindran, and Sunil, informed the coast guard headquarters at Ernakulam, afer they came across the vessel during their trip into the deep sea for fishing in their trawler. Initially when they spoke to the crew of the vessel, the latter said that they set sail from Tamil Nadu and had anchored in the deep sea since there was no stock of fuel in the vessel. The crew of the mystery vessel was reportedly conversing in Tamil and Hindi only.  However, while returning to shore, the fishermen saw the vessel setting sail.

Coast guard patrol boats later began a hunt for the unidentified vessel whose purpose of visiting the area is still unknown.
