Mangalore, Nov 25:
The BJP-led state government is committed to the progress of the minority community without engaging in cheap politics on various issues, said Sadananda Gowda, state BJP president and MP, on Sunday November 23.

Gowda was speaking at a felicitation ceremony organized by the Ulemas from 180 mosques, at a function held at Al Madina Islamic Trust, Manjanady. Around 800 women and over 1,000 men of the community attended the event. Besides Gowda, Krishna J Palemar, district-in-charge minister, and Anwar Manippady, former chairman, State Minority Commission, were also felicitated.

Gowda said that Manippady had ensured that various government facilities intended for the minority community, reached the appropriate candidates, during his term as chairman of the minority commission.  He asserted that Manippady was the right choice for the chairmanship of the commission even in future.

Gowda cautioned the community against being lured by any of the political parties as  relations between the BJP and minority brethren were likely to flourish soon.  The state government has reserved Rs 120 crore for the progress of the minority community,to enable them to integrate into the main stream of society, he emphasized.

He pointed out that while past state governments had always engaged in vote bank politics, the ruling BJP state government had released more than  ten times the financial assistance than those by earlier governments.  BJP led state government has been trying to bring in an equilibrium between the minority and majority communities by shunning  differences in religion to promote harmonious living, said Gowda.

Dakshina Kannada district-in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar, district BJP secretary Santosh Kumar Rai Boliyar, state vice-president Anwar Manippady, district president Padmanabha Kottari, Sufaya Madani, Shaikuna Manjanady, Ustad K M K Manjanady, Abdul Rehman Madani Padalla, Zaini Kamil, and Naringana gram panchayat president Joseph Coutinho, were present on the occasion.
