M'lore: Nihal Manjunath of Lourdes School Secures Third Prize in National Chess Competition

Mangalore, Nov 25: Nihal Manjunath, a ninth standard student of Lourdes Central School, Mangalore, bagged the third prize in the National Chess Competition held at VIT University of Tamil Nadu Chess Institution of Vellore, recently.

Over 280 chess players participated in the competition organized for the below-13 year age group, by the All India Chess Federation. Nihal, who trained at Derek’s Chess School, will represent India in the forthcoming Asian Youth Chess Competition in the below-14 age group.

Apart from Nihal, Viani Antonio D’Cuhna, an eighth standard student of St Agnes High School of Mangalore, secured the eighth place while Venessa D’Souza of Derick Chess School came fifth.
