Mangalore: Udupi Power Project to be Ready by Dec 2009

Mangalore, Nov 24: The Udupi Power Project (UPP) plant constructed at Nandikoor in Udupi district, will provide 500 mega watt electricity by December 2009 said K S Eshwarappa, minister for energy, at a press conference on Sunday November 23.

The authority has sanctioned permission for UPP to produce 1015 mega watt of electricity. The project will commence with production of 500 mega watt and later an additional 510 mega watt of power will be available. The obstacles related to the plant are being resolved, he said.

Even a small amount of money has not been kept pending by the state government. ‘I will accept political ‘sanyasa’ if Veerappa Moily, chairman of the Administrative Reforms Commission, proves his statement, claimed Eshwarappa.
