Mangalore: Yakshagana Sahitya Sammelan- Stress on Richness of Variety

Mangalore, Nov 22: The fourth All India Yakshagana Sahitya Sammelan, being organized by Karnataka Cultural and Art Foundation, will be held at Kasargod on December 26, 27 and 28, 2008.

Various forms of Yakshagana like Tenkutittu, Badagutittu, Badabadagu, Doddata, Sannata, Shri Krishna Parijata, Ghattada Kore and Puppetry Yakshagana will be demonstrated and performed at the venue. Litterateurs meet, poets meet and meet of the background artistes are also scheduled to be held on the occasion, which will thoroughly discuss all the aspects of Yakshagana, said Foundation president S N Panjaje in a release.

Connoisseurs of Yakshagana will also have an opportunity to also enjoy Kerala’s Katakkali, Terukootu, and street plays that are closely related to Yakshagana, he explained.

Over 300 artistes, scholars and critics will participate in the event.  To commemorate the Sammelan, a souvenir containing articles on various aspects of Yakshagana will be brought out, he added.
