Beltangady: Locals Petrified over Appearance of Wild Buffaloes

Beltangady, Nov 22: Two wild buffaloes made a sudden appearance in the town during the day on Friday November 21. They smashed the compound wall of the house of a PWD retired employee named Appaiah, located near the court complex.

A wild buffalo which came in from nowhere, hit the said compound wall, which crashed to the ground. A smaller buffalo, perhaps the calf of the bigger buffalo, which followed, tried to jump through the compound wall before running away through the crashed portion of the wall.

The citizens were taken by surprise and fear at the sight of the wild buffaloes. The town is not lined up along forests. A few took it in lighter vein, saying that the animals had come to plead to provide them natural forests and not the concrete ones, as the area is located by the side of the office of the wildlife department.

It is suspected that the buffaloes crossed over to the town from the forests located on the far side of Koyyur and were running helter-skelter after the day-break. There are reports that the animals were sighted in several places including Koppa, on Friday morning.
