Karkala, Nov 22: State social welfare minister D Sudhakar said that the people automatically love and trust those who follow the tenets of non-violence and sacrifice, which are the basic principles of Jainism.

He was speaking after inaugurating a convention of devotees organized on the occasion of Sri Bhyrava Padmavati Aradhana Mahotsav at the Danashala Patnashetty Ground here, recently.

Saying that every person has at least a couple of good virtues, he called upon people to use these virtues to the advantage of the society.  "It would be insufficient for a man to be a successful politician, to have money with him. He needs to have good qualities which help in winning over support of the people," he felt. He also promised to provide subsidies amounting to Rs 20 to 25 lac for the self-employment schemes of the self help groups functioning in Karkala taluk.

Karnataka State Apex Bank chairman M N Rajendra Kumar, who was the main force behind organizing the programme, called upon rich people to extend support for the upliftment of the have-nots. No single person can achieve welfare of the society. Every one needs to extend support for this task wholeheartedly, he said.

Danashale Jainmath Lalitakeerti Bhattaraka Swamiji in his benedictory address, compared people to flowers and leaders, to the threat that can bind them together." If people respond positively and agree to work together under the guidance of leaders, the final product will be like a beautiful garland," he added.
