Mangalore: Urban Health Centre Kadri Handed over to KSHEMA

Mangalore, Nov 19: Mayor Ganesh Hosabettu inaugurated and officially handed over the Kadri Area Urban Health Centre to the K S Hegde Medical Academy (KSHEMA) for maintenance and management on Tuesday November 18. 

Speaking at a gala public function organized at the venue to mark the new status of the centre, the mayor exhorted private establishments to help the government in creating healthcare awareness among the people of the city. He said the Dakshina Kannada district is in the forefront of development and had shown the way in exploiting the readily available expertise in health care through private tie-ups to the maximum benefit of the poorer sections of the society.

Dr Das Acharya, head of the department of community medicine of KSHEMA in his welcome address, promised that every care will be taken to make the centre a model one, and assured that with the periodic posting of specialists, the city corporation as well as the general public would benefit through the joint venture.

Vinay Hegde, president of Nitte Education Trust and chancellor of the Nitte University, reminded the medical college administrator that with the handing over the upkeep of the urban centre to them, a huge onus and responsibility has shifted to KSHEMA to deliver quality care with sincerity and dedication. He mentioned, that the Trust and KSHEMA were maintaining around 20 outreach centres already. Dr Premanand Shetty, chairman, City Corporation Health Committee, later symbolically handed over the keys of the centre to Dr Arunachalam Kumar, dean, KSHEMA.
 
Also present on the occasion were Dr  H  Jagannath, district health officer, Dr  M Shantaram Shetty, vice chancellor, Nitte University, Dr  Sateesh Bhandary, vice dean, KSHEMA and Dr  Jayaprakash Shetty, superintendent of the KSHEMA Hospital and the area corporator,  D  Ashok.

 Dr Jaiprakash Shetty, registrar, KSHEMA proposed vote of thanks. Dr Rashmi, assistant professor, community medicine department, compered the programme.
