Puttur Autorickshaws Exempted from Mandatory Fixing of Gas Kits

Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Nov 19: Mangalore MP D V Sadanand Gowda has informed that the transport department has decided to exempt autorickshaws plying in Puttur from the rule of mandatory fixing of gas kits. The decision was taken, after holding discussions with the transport minister and local MLA, he disclosed.

Puttur, which falls within the Malnad region, also has old model autorickshaws. Fixing of kits might prove to be difficult to the operators here, because of the exorbitant costs and also the local environment. Therefore, the said order has been kept in abeyance till further orders, he clarified.

As soon as the news spread, members of the BMS-affiliated Autorickshaw Owners and Drivers Association went in a procession here, to celebrate the decision which is in tune with their demand.
