Udupi, Nov 18: Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, state education minister, inaugurated from Bangalore through video conferencing, 59 study camps for teachers of the Bharat Seva Dal on Monday November 17. The camps will be held in various districts across the state till Sunday December 7.  

These camps are being held in association with the public instruction department, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, state education research and training institute, and Bharat Seva Dal central committee. MLA Raghupathy Bhat inaugurated the study camp at District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), on Monday.

Kageri, in his inaugural message, said that students should be taught from a wider angle of national pride.  The teachers should strive to instill cultural virtues and create awareness about self-reliance, he said. The minister added that etra-curricular activities are essential along with studies, in order to bring their hidden talents to the fore. Discussions will be shortly held to start Bharat Seva Dal programmes in unaided schools  in the near future, he said.

Bhat said that district and state-level Bharat Seva Dal programmes should be organized frequently to identify the talents of teachers and honour them. 

Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon, Andaru Deviprasad Shetty, president, district Bharat Seva Dal, K P Acharya, vice-president of the Dal and correspondent of Sri Vidhyaniketan group of education institutes, and Manjunathayya, block education officer, were present on the dais.

Bharat Seva Dal study camps will be held simultaneously in six districts across the state - Bangalore town, Uttar Kannada, Gulbarga, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Chikmagalur, through video conferencing.
