Kundapur: Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign in Town

Kundapur, Nov 17: Press Information Bureau, Bangalore in collaboration with the  Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity,  Directorate of Field Publicity of  AIR  &  Doordarshan, Films Division,  Udupi district administration and  the zilla panchayat will be  organizing Bharat Nirman Pubilc Campaign [PIC] from November 16 to 20 2008 at Gandhi Maidan here, said  Natasha D’Souza,  joint director of PIC, Bangalore,  at a press conference held  at the Press Club here recently.

PIC is an innovative media outreach strategy for the dissemination of information about the flagship programmes of the government of India such as National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, National Rural Health Mission, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Right to Information, Prime Minister’s New 15 point programme for the welfare of minorities etc. for the workers in the unorganized sector, Integrated Child Development Scheme etc. The campaign’s objective is particularly to facilitate the delivery of services to the targetted beneficiaries in rural areas in Karnataka. So far, seven PICs have been organized at Yelahanka, Yadgir, Harihara, Bhadravati, Kadur, Kushalnagar and Mulbagal, she explained.

As part of the campaign, an exhibition to showcase the projects and schemes of government of India and Karnataka will be put up with the stalls of various departments of the state government, PSUs, CGOs, and SHGs etc. The five-day campaign will consist of seminars on flagship programmes as well, on issues of local importance.  Doordarshana Kendra Bangalore organized a crop seminar on Sunday November 16, 2008 which was telecast live on Chandana channel. Song and Drama Division will be organizing cultural programmes at the venue of the campaign every evening. Films Division will organize a Film Festival during the campaign period.

Suresh Kumar, T B Nanjunda Swamy, Pallavi Chige and Junjanna were present on the occasion.
