Beltangady: Police Apprehend Three Involved in Mundaje Temple Theft

Beltangady, Nov 17:
On Saturday Noveber 15, town police arrested three persons  accused of stealing the idols and puja items from Sri Laxminarayan temple, Gundi, in Mundaje village, near here, recently.
 
The arrested are Kamalksha Achary (28), resident of Madiladda, Kanyady village, Somanat Sapalya (33) of Kanyadi, and Rajappa Mugera (20) of Shantimar, Majar, Ujire.  The police recovered an idol about a foot and a half in height and made of marble, a brass box, a brass pedestal, brass façade, and an idol made of semi-precious stones. The police also recovered a car used by the thieves, in all worth around Rs 12 lac.

The three have been were remanded to judicial custody. Harischandra, deputy superintendent of police, Puttur, Gangi Reddy, circle inspector, Rame Gowda, sub-inspector, Venkappa Shetty, assistant sub-inspector, head constable Kattemar, constables Shashidar, Rajesh, Sundar Shetty, Ramachandra and drivers Raghuram, Shankar Raj and Raghav, were involved in this operation.
