M'lore: 'Mogrem - Karan'-Collection of Konkani Folk Literature to be Released

Mangalore, Nov 16:  'Mogrem - Karan', the third volume of Konkani movement, will be released at a function to be held in the Dr T M A Pai Convention Centre in the city on November 16.

K K Pai will preside over the function. Dr Mohan Alva, president, Alva's Education Foundation, will release the book.

The work 'Mogrem- Karan' by Paul Moras has been written after conducting thorough research on the subjects of of Konkani folk literature, folk dance and folk music. About 100 colourful pictures of dances have been adopted in this book. A well researched work of this kind on folk literature is being published for the first time in the Konkani literature.

The author has succeeded in describing the growth of Konkani music through 'Manddo' the popular Konkani dance and musical form through Mogrem, the devadasi dancer.

The music which inspired Konkani movement and how Konkani came to be recognized, have also been dealt in detail by the author in this book.
