Mangalore, Nov 16: Speaking after inaugurating a workshop on protection of children's rights  organized for the benefit of  the police officials at Roshni Nilaya in the city  by the Roshni Nilaya Institute  of Social Work in association with the Dakshina Kannada district department of police on Friday November 14, inspector general of police (IGP) A M Prasad advised the policemen to compulsorily register first information reports(FIR) in the case of all complaints backed by rationale, without making people to suffer on this count.

The cases of missing children has become a serious problem. The  police department  does not seem to have assigned enough seriousness to  this problem. In several cases, even FIRs are not registered, the IGP lamented.

In their busy routine, the policemen might sometime, overlook some serious and delicate issues. This is not acceptable. The policemen should strive to improve their skills and efficiency, Prasad advised.

In his introductory address, additional superintendent of police(SP) R Dileep felt, that the police officials need to enrich their legal knowledge.  We come across police officials who want to deviate from procedures, saying that they are not 'practicable'. However, the policemen if they hone their abilities, can successfully implement rules and regulations in toto, he opined.
