Sullia, Nov 15:  Citizens of Subrahmanya, under the banner of Citizens forum, went in a procession to the Subrahmanya police station from Car Street, demanding for the initiation of action against Subrahmanya police station-in-charge Sharat Kumar on Friday November 14.

It may be recalled that the Panja range forest officer has registered a case against the above police officer, alleging that he was caught carrying rosewood pieces illegally in the departmental jeep recently. The protesters later handed over a memorandum signed by 82 persons, urging the police top brass to take action against the said sub-inspector of police.

Taluk panchayat member Suvarnini, Hindu Jagran Vedike district assistant convener Lakshmeesh Gabladka, Venkat Volalambe, Paul Pereira, gram panchayat vice-president Manjunat Rao etc., addressed the protesters.

Convener of the Forum Krishnakumar Rudrapada warned that more intense protests will be taken up if immediate steps are not initiated against the guilty police officer.
