Mangalore: ‘Taare Zameen Par’— Drawing Competition with a Difference

Mangalore, Nov 15: ‘Taare Zameen Par’, a nationwide drawing competition for differently-abled children was held at Chethana Child Development Centre as part of Children’s Day on Friday November 14.

The event was jointly organized by Mangalore Round Table, Mangalore Ladies Circle, and Mangalore Coastal Round Table. Twenty students from various schools of the undivided Dakshina Kannada district participated in the competition.

According to the organizers, the competition was held at 101 centres across India and about 5,921 children participated in all. Pramod Pinto, chairman, Mangalore Round Table, said that the best drawing would be sent to Mumbai to be included among the ten best drawing at the national level. Aamir Khan, actor and the director of the movie ‘Taare Zameen Par’ will present prizes to the three best pictures.

Painters M N Pavanje and Rina were the judges. Nishanth, chairman, Mangalore Coastal Round Table, and Dr Shanthi, chairman, Mangalore Ladies Circle, were present on the occasion.
