Mangalore: Nominations Invited for Annual Rachana Awards

Mangalore, Nov 12: Rachana, a registered body of the Catholic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was established in the year 1998. It has been giving away annual awards instituted by it. This year too, five 'Rachana Awards' that include a special award earmarked specially for women, meant to honour outstanding individual Catholics originating from Mangalore diocese, will be conferred.

Rachana has informed that this year, awards will be conferred to individuals who have excelled in the following fields:

1. Rachana Agriculturist of the year.
2. Rachana Entrepreneur of the year.
3. Rachana Professional of the year (doctors, engineers, lawyers, chartered accountants)
4. Rachana NRI Entrepreneur/Professional of the year.
5. Special award for the Woman of the Year (outstanding individual).

The body has informed that the applications for nominations/recommendations along with photographs should reach the office of 'Rachana' on or before November 30, at the following address:

A panel of 15 jury members will scrutinize the nominations/recommendations and select the most deserving individuals from among them.

Rachana award ceremony will be held on Sunday January 11, 2009 at 6.30 pm at Milagres Jubilee Hall in the city in the presence of dignitaries and eminent personalities. The function will be presided over by Bishop Aloysius Paul D'Souza, Rachana said in a release.
