Mangalore: Free Medical Camp Organized

Mangalore, Nov 12: A free medical camp conducted by Yenepoya Medical and Dental College Hospital, was jointly organized by Lions Club and Lioness Club, Catholic Sabha, and ICYM, of Suratkal.

The camp was inaugurated at Holy Family English Medium School auditorium. Gretta Pinto, D C, health care, presided over the inaugural function and welcomed the gathering.  Sukhalatha Bhandary, district lioness co-ordinator, Lion District 324-D5, inaugurated the camp by lighting the lamp.

In her inaugural address she talked about the health initiative programmes of the Lioness Club. Fr Antony Lobo, parish priest, Sacred Heart Church, Suratkal, was the chief guest and said that ‘Health is wealth. But nowadays, people neglect health and give importance to accumulating wealth. India can be termed a rich countrym but most of the people are poor. Yenepoya Hospital reaches the poor with the help of social service organizations like Lions Club, Lioness Club, Catholic Sabha, and ICYM’.

George Ligoury D’Souza, president, Catholic Sabha, proposed the vote of thanks. Shalini Pereira compered the programme. Alwyn Sequeira, president, Lions Club, G V S Mani, president, Lioness Surathkal, Dr Ganesh Shenoy, professor and head, department of community dentistry Yenepoya Dental College, Peter Paul D’Souza, vice-president, parish council, George Ligoury D’Souza, and Preetham Britto, president, ICYM, were present on the dais. About 300 people took advantage of the free dental, eye, ortho and general medicine camp.
