Mangalore: 'Aarogya Kavacha’ Ambulance Service Launched in City

Mangalore, Nov 10: District in-charge minister J Krishna Palemar inaugurated the ‘Aarogya Kavacha’ scheme, an emergency ambulance service launched by the government in association with the Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI) and National Rural Health Mission, at Town Hall, on Monday November 10.

Addressing the gathering, after flagging off three ambulances, Palemar announced the donation of an EMRI scanner worth Rs 3 crore to Wenlock Hospital so as to provide free scanning for patients. Asking people to use the Aarogya Kavacha scheme, he said this facility was aimed at ensuring better amenities in the state as well as to compete with private institutions in the service sector.

Bharath Radhakrishnan, chief executive officer, EMRI, said that they had introduced as many as 66 ambulances in the state. EMRI would provide about 517 ambulances by March next year in co-operation with the government.

MLA UT Khader, N Yogish Bhat, Ramanath Rai, K P Sucharita Shetty, president, zilla panchayat, deputy commissioner Maheshwara Rao, assiatant superintendent of police Dilip Kumar, health officer Dr Jagannath, and Dr Prabhudev Maane were present on the occasion.
