Udupi: Coal-laden Truck Catches Fire

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Nov 8: On Friday November 7, a truck carrying a load of coal from Mangalore port to Gokak, caught fire near Beedinakere school, Padubidri.

The coal loaded in the  huge 10-wheeler truck caught fire presumably because of friction. The driver was not aware of the fire, but stopped the vehicle and called the fire brigade immediately after other vehicles signalled him about what was happening.

A fire brigade vehicle tried to douse the flame but finding it hard, indented for another vehicle. To avoid the truck getting  engulfed in the fire, it was decided to unload the burning coal. The truck was then moved a little; away on an interior road and then the coal was unloaded. The fire was extinguished thereafter.

The truck however, suffered partial damage due to fire.
