Udupi, Nov 8: Miscreants hacked a person named Somanath (32) from Kappunja, Ambagilu here to death at Moodu Sagri village on Friday November 7.
Somanath alias Somappa, son of Ambagilu Kappunja Ashok Poojary, had been working in Mumbai since the last few years and had returned to his native place a few years ago. Sources said that he was involved in real estate business and also in matka.
He had not returned after venturing out of his home on Thursday evening. On Friday evening, his body bearing deep wounds inflicted with sharp weapons was found at Moodusagri.
A case has been registered by the Manipal police in this connection. So far, the policemen have been clueless about the reasons for murder and the culprits behind the crime.
