Udupi, Nov 8: Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) state president Narayan Gowda inaugurated the district activists’ convention at the Hotel Ayodhya auditorium, on Thursday November 6.
 
Addressing the activists, Gowda said that KRV opposes the tender process initiated by the Tamil Nadu (TN) government on the Hogenakkal irrigation project after its claim on sharing the water of the Cauvery river faced severe opposition from KRV activists. TN chief minister Karunanidhi has invited political ill-will by initiating the tender process on the controversial project and KRV will not allow the project to take off at any cost, he said.
 

Speaking to media persons, Gowda said that the state government should allow KRV activists to stage a struggle instead of worrying about power, when its land and water bodies are threatened by neighbouring states. Accordingly, an awareness summit will be held at Bangalore palace grounds on Friday December 19 and Saturday December 20, to garner support for the cause. 
 
The programme was presided over by KRV district president Satish Kalmady. KRV office-bearers Nagendra Babu, Vijay Haikady, K G K Achar, Mamata Kadiyali, Revati Barkoor, Saraswati, Sudhakar Salian, Gopal Shetty Manipal, Yogish and several activists were present on the occasion. Mahesh Katpady welcomed the gathering.
