Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (CN)

Mangalore, Nov.6: Dr Cynthia Menezes Prabhu, professor of management studies, Canara Bank School of Management, Bangalore University, along with Prof P S Srinivas, head of department of management studies, Sidwin Institute of Management and Technology, Bangalore, and Prof Harish Babu, faculty, department of management studies, Nitte Institute of Technology, Bangalore, conducted a workshop on international business for the MBA students of St Joseph’s Engineering College, Vamanjoor on Thursday November 6.

Dr Prabhu stressed that success in international business requires more acumen than managing a domestic enterprise. You not only deal with traditional business functions and values, but must also understand and work from a global perspective that adds politics, culture, monetary variables, time, and distance, to the international business management equation, she said.

We have visited the St.Joseph's Engineering College at Vamanjoor. Beautiful complex, well organized with the best of the faculty. Thanks to the Bishop as well as Mnsgr.Fred Pereira and Fr.Valerian for their magnanimous efforts. As we have indicated earlier, Colleges and Universities in India need a Toastmasters Club in order to enthuse the students with the basic International flavour in Commerce, Cultures, Traditions as well as International ethics, in order to enable the young brains to mould themselves into a spirit of globalization.

The basic communicational values need be strongly embedded amongst the students so that they get influenced with so many International ideas and initiatives that will enable them to march towards the fast moving and fast changing world. We started the Toastmasters Clubs at St. Aloysius College and we are already reaping a rich harvest from hundreds of bright students who are proving themselves as great leaders and communicators. We are already planning to have more than one Toastmasters Club at the future complex of St. Aloysius at Birri near Thokkode. We have the team of Toastmsters experts in and around Mangalore who will be more than delighted to visit Vamanjoor and demonstrate the basic techniques of Toastmasters movement.

This is the time to think and act, and you have our support at all times. We also have established in Mangalore an International Institute for Public Policy which motivates the Toastmasters to move further to be Accredited Speakers.
