Udupi: House in Kaup Gutted

Udupi, Nov 7: A  house located at Fakeeranakatte in Kaup was reduced to ashes due to an accidental fire late night on Tuesday November 4.

The house belongs to Ahmed Hussain, who has rented it out to Noor Mohammed, a cloth vendor. At around 1.30 am,  fire was noticed in one of the rooms, presumably because of short circuit. After the fire spread, and heat  created by it awakened Noor Mohammed. The family members who alerted their neighbourers,  tried to extinguish the it.  Soon thereafter, fire brigade personnel came on the scene and got involved with the operation to douse the flames.

By the time the fame of extinguished, refrigerator, furnitures and clothes stored for trade were also gutted. The loss suffered is put at around two lac rupees.

The actual reason for the accidental fire is yet to be ascertained. A case has been registered at Kaup police station.
