Udupi: Rotary and BBCF to Promote Agri Farm

Udupi, Nov 5: The Rotary Clubs of Barkur and Brahmavar and Barkur-Brahmavar Citizens’ Forum (BBCF), jointly held a programme for the promotion of the ‘Agri Farm Project’ at Rotary Bhavan, Barkur, on Monday November 3.

This ambitious programme of developing a model horticulture farm by creating a land bank of 40-50 acres is the dream project of B Dharmaraj Shetty, Unitop Group of Concerns. As per this project, the rights for using the land are surrendered to a horticulture co-operative farm for growing various agriculture and horticulture crops as recommended, and guided by the University Department of Regional Agriculture Research Centre, Brahmavar. However, land owners retain the ownership rights.

The programme was presided over by Dharmaraj Shetty who is also the founder president of BBCF.  He gave a presentation on self-agriculture system and its market value. Padmanabha Kanchan, secretary, Rotary Club, Brahmavar,  Rathnakar Shetty, secretary, Rotary Club, Barkur, Ganesh Vakuda, president   Rotary Club, Barkur, K K Nayak, president, BBCF, Bojaraj Shetty, assistant governor, Rotary, and Ramesh Rao, manager, Syndicate Bank, were present on the stage.

On Monday morning, Dharmaraj Shetty also delivered a presentation at Mangalore University, Konaje, on the project following an invitation from the varsity authorities. Dr Guru Prasad from Regional Agri Research Institute, Brahmavar, talked about self- agriculture and its methods.

Vittal Shetty, vice-president, BBCF, shared his experience in self-agriculture with the gathering. Koodly Sathyanarayana Udupa presented his views on the self-agriculture system and his own experience.
