Bangalore: Milk Price Imbroglio - No Hike, says Minister Savadi

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Nov 4: Cooperation department minister Lakshman Savadi stated that permission will never be given for increasing the price of milk in the state. The statement is an indication that the stand-off between Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) and the state government on the demand of the KMF to hike the milk price in the state by two rupees a litre, continues.

Speaking in his office to the newsmen after the JD (S) and the Congress members of Nanjangud taluk panchayat joined the BJP, he stressed that the demand for the price rise was politically motivated. "Opinions of 13 milk unions from the state have been obtained by the government by calling a meeting of their presidents and they have confirmed that they are not running under loss. A final decision would be intimated within a couple of days after meeting the KMF president H D Revanna, he added.

The minister opined that the price hike if affected now will only encourage politically motivated issues rather than benefiting the farmers.
