Mangalore, Oct 31: The new president of Mangalore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) B Madhava Bhandary said here on Thursday October 30, that the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP)-2021 draft will be sanctioned as soon as possible.

Addressing the gathering at a felicitation ceremony organized by the Kanara Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) at its meeting hall here, he said that the draft master plan has been submitted to the government. It includes many developmental programmes for the city as well people in the suburbs.

Expressing concern over the development of the city, Bhandary said the city has been growing haphazardly. Many gardens have rotted over the past 25 years and residential buildings have come up everywhere. This is not a good omen, he warned.

I will do everything to help people during my tenure. But it depends upon the government and how seriously it will take the matter.’

Explaining master plans, Bhandary said two rounds of discussions with experts from Ahmedabad, had been held. ‘Master plan includes eight big roads for areas including Car street, Konchady, and Sulthan Batthery, ten lorry parking areas, three private bus terminuses, as many as four gardens, and other such developmental programmes’, he added.

‘Round-the-clock water supply to as many as 10 lac people in the city will be achieved in March 2009. MUDA will join hands with the city corporation in this regard. We have about 200 acres of land and about 3,700 people will benefit from this within six months,’ he said.
