61 Dead, 470 Injured as 13 Blasts Rock Assam

GUWAHATI, Oct 30:  The first of the 13 bombs, suspected to have been planted by Bangladesh-based HuJI members, went off at around 11.30 am under the Ganeshguri flyover near the high-security capital complex housing the assembly building, followed by explosions at Paltan Bazar and Fancy Bazar here.

Around the same time, bombs also went off in crowded market places of Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon and Barpeta districts in lower Assam.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi put the toll at 61 dead and 470 injured. Of the six blasts in Guwahati, RDX was used in two of the explosions, he said adding a special task force was being set up to unearth the conspiracy behind the blasts.

Black smoke billowed from the deputy commissioner's office housing the district courts, which bore the brunt of the attacks in Guwahati, as vehicles, including a number of cars, turned into mangled heaps of metal.

Police suspected that the bomb was planted in the court complex on a two-wheeler.

At least 25 people were killed and 235 injured in the blasts in Guwahati where an indefinite curfew was clamped following protests by residents, who accused the police of delayed action.

While 19 were killed and 64 injured in Kokrajhar, 12 died in Barpeta where 46 others were wounded. Five people were injured in Bongaigaon, principal secretary (home) Subhash Das said.

A red alert has been sounded across the state and army has also been put on alert in view of the security situation, he said after Gogoi held a review meeting with his cabinet colleagues and top officials.

Is this worth commenting? Those who involved in these bomb blasts should be blasted in the sameway immediately they are caught. If we wait to look for evidences to charge those who cought it is not going to happen. The minute authorities came to know their slightest involvement, they should be blasted then there itself. Otherwise, those who are dead will never get justice if we are to wait for the justice.

It is unfortunate that such a heinous crime is taking place on such an auspicious day. Political parties please do stop blaming each other and at this hour of crisis join together to eradicate this evil. Again I say that terrorism is an issue needs to be addressed immediately, and needs a collective response of all the parties. You need both intelligence and power to stop this.

I think the carnage what we see is unthinkable. After so many blasts, day in and day out, still our government cannot control the terrorists activities. What is the role the home ministry is playing? What is the prime Minister doing? What is the position of Sonia Gandhi. These people have failed to protect the innocents. I think its time our UPA government gets its act together and shelve everything and give NO. 1 priority to get rid of the menace that India faces. Innocent people are dying and the government has failed to protect the ordinay citizens.

The extremists outfits operating out of Bangla desh and pakistan and their sympathisers operating within India are killing our innocents, a carnage no nation can put it aside. Can we stop the infiltration of the savage killers. Only statements people of India gets from the UPA is "This will never happen again"? But it happend again and again and again. When India can spend billions to go to the moon why can't UPA spend money on vigilence, and to track this terror outfits, to monitor and seal our borders and sweep the nation to get rid of the terrorists and their affiliates. UPA government, do you have your priorities right when this killing spree has invaded our nation?

This is a good opportunity for the BJP and Co to blame it on the christian missionaries. The pictures above where ppl are destroying the jeep shows how insensible ppl are, instead of offering their time and energy in helping out maintain order and peace.
