Karkala, Oct 29: After a long lay off, Naxals are on prowl again in the taluk. It was only a few days ago, Naxal leader Vikram Gowda had managed to visit his house despite ANF presence in the area. Now sources have confirmed that a group of Naxalites led by Vikram Gowda visited Thingale village near here and spent long time in various houses, instructing people to join them in creating social revolution.
Naxalites said to have visited houses in Nellikatte vicinity near Thingale garodi on Monday October 27 evening between 4.30 and 8.45. There were 3 young women in the group who are said to be hailing from Bangalore, while there were 3 young men other than Vikram Gowda. One of them is said to be a resident of Naravi while two others are yet to be identified. While Vikram possessed a machine gun, others had country guns in their possession.
They visited many houses and instructed people to join them in staging social revolution. They said to have been aggressively campaigning against the state BJP government terming it fascist. They also claimed that they were responsible for the killing of Bhoja Shetty at Sitanadi. They further said that Bhoja Shetty was a landlord who was harassing his labourers and was also involved in smuggling of timber. He was being supported by BJP leaders. "He was against social revolution and hence invited his own death," they fumed.
Their next target seems to be Bhaskar Gowda of Masige in Shringeri taluk whom they claim to be a landlord who has been abusing his workers.
BJP is a fascist party and it still holds on to the age-old ideals of Brahminism which are meant to crush downtrodden and lower castes. Naxalites seems to be particularly against the home minister Dr V S Acharya and local BJP leader Thingale Vikramarjun Hegde. Their handbills are filled with allegations against the BJP government, state home minister and landlords who are operating in these remote villages.
However, it is quite surprising to know that Anti-Naxal Force has failed to curb Naxal movement in the area. It was only a few days ago that Vikram Gowda had visited his house at Koodligi. Thingale is just about 10 kilometres away from Koodligi which clearly suggests that Naxalites have been camping in the same vicinity for almost a week now. But the ANF which often claims of carrying out extensive combing operations has not even been able to get the trail of the Naxalites. This also shows that locals are supporting Naxals and they are not willing to disclose their movements to the ANF.
