Bantwal: Youth from Madikeri Meets Watery Grave

Bantwal, Oct 28:
A youth who arrived from Madikeri to attend his friend’s wedding drowned in the river when he went for a dip on Sunday October 26.
 
Nawaz (20), a resident of Gadige, Madikeri, had arrived with his friends for the wedding of Ubedulla of Nadavar, near here on Saturday October 25.  The tragedy occurred after Nawaz stepped into the Netravati River for a bath. 
 
The wedding was to be held at Sri Vinayaka Shankaranarayan Durgamba temple auditorium at 6.30 am on Sunday.  Nawaz slipped, fell into the river, and drowned.
 
Although fire brigade personnel from Mangalore arrived to retrieve his body, they couldn’t locate it. Eventually, the locals with their country boats managed to trace the body late on Sunday.

The post-mortem of Nawaz’s body was held at the taluk Government Hospital. Town sub-inspector Madhav Koodlu and other policemen visited the spot.  A case was also registered.
