Karkala: Foundation Stone Laid for Koti-Chennaya Theme Park

The Koti-Chennaya theme park will aim to preserve the memory of the legendary heroes who bravely fought against injustice, inequality and oppression, by wealthy landlords four and a half centuries ago in Tulunadu, said Dr V S Acharya ,state home minister, on Saturday October 25.
 
Dr Acharya was speaking after laying the foundation stone for the construction of the Koti-Chennaya theme park. When completed, the park will convey the glory of Tulunadu culture and hierarchy. The new generation will get an opportunity to study the heroic life of Koti-Chennaya at the theme park, he added. 
 
Deputy commissioner (DC) Hemalata P was the chief guest, who said that the theme park will be developed as a tourism project on 97 acres of land. An amount of Rs 1 crore has already been released for the project and it would be completed in three phases, within four years, she added.

In the first phase, the welcome arch, stone sculpture of Koti-Chennaya, museum, sanctuary, and an open air auditorium will be set up. A research centre, to undertake studies on distinct Tulunadu culture, folklore, and contemporary worship, will also be a part of the park.
 
MLA H Gopal Bhandary, expressed happiness that the theme park will be set up here under the jurisdiction of his legislative assembly constituency.  He announced a contribution of Rs 5 lac from his MLA’s fund to the project.

MLCs Captain Ganesh Karnik and Kota Srinivas Poojary also announced a contribution of Rs 5 lac each from their MLC’s funds for the project. Former MLA V Sunil Kumar, municipal councilor Sitaram, and taluk panchayat president B Sundar, were present on the dais.
