Mangalore: Classical Status- KRV Threatens to Intensify Protest

Mangalore, Oct 25: The district committee of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) has threatened to intensify the protest if the union government did not grant classical status to the Kannada language within a week's period.

Speaking at the protest meet held in front of head post office here on Saturday, October 25, Sanur Sathish Salian, district president said KRV has been struggling to get classical status to the Kannada language which is ancient to even Tamil language. But the union government's response has been lukewarm. 'Union government's step-motherly treatment against Kannada cannot be tolerated anymore," he added.

KRV general secretary Valerian D'Souza, organizing secretary Sudip Jain, media secretary Mahesh and members Jagadish Padpu, Ganesh Kumar, Anwar Rico Kudroli, Moidin were present on the occasion.
