Bantwal: Road Digging Case - Accused Granted Bail

Bantwal, Oct 24: The Bantwal court granted bail to seven arrested persons, accused of digging up a newly-laid disputed road in Kukkaje in Manila within Peruvai village limits, with the purpose of thwarting road use.

Krishnappa Poojary (41) from Kukkaje in Manila, Srikrishna Kukkaje (31), Narjelu Narayan Poojary (23), Ravi (24) from Badoor, Kerala, Satish Kotian (36) from Kasargod Posettu, Bayar Darikukku Balakrishna (32) and Chandrahas Purusha (42) from Peruvai Onibagilu had been produced by the Vittal police in the above case in the court on Wednesday October 22.

Other accused, Rajesh Kumar Balekallu, Peruvai gram panchayat vice president, Dr Vishwanath Kukkaje, M K Kukkaje, Krishnappa Kukkaje, Tukra Mugera, Raghunath Kasargod and Salman are reportedly absconding.

A group of about 40 people had dug up trenches on the Taridala-Kukkaje road in Manila village, by closing the road with the help of eartmovers late night on Tuesday October 21, as per a complaint filed with the police, for blocking traffic on this road.  The Vittal police have registered cases against 12 people in this connection.
