Bantwal, Oct 24: Some miscreants assaulted 3 persons when they opposed the construction of road on the disputed property near Sri Kalikamba Anjaneya temple, at Kukkaje in Manila village on Tuesday October 21.

The injured persons have been identified as Rajesh, Harish and Tukra.

Sources informed that a group of 20 persons, including two local BJP leaders, attacked these three persons. The injured are admitted at a hospital here.

The property belongs to a certain Chaniappa Poojary and a civil case on this land is pending in the court. But the local BJP leaders Sesappa Gowda and Jagannath Salian have been successful in bringing the order from the tahsildar to construct the road on the said property.

The accused damaged the steps of the local temple while leveling the ground. The locals opposed this move since a case in this regard was pending in the court and tahsildar had not right to issue such an order. Hence, the group led by local BJP leaders attacked these three locals for opposing the construction of road.

Vittal police have booked cases against 20 persons involved in assaulting three locals.  Meanwhile, assistant commissioner through an order has stayed the road construction work.
