Mangalore, Oct 22: The district committee of the CPI(M) will stage a protest on the beach near Ullal Rani Abbakka Circle, on Friday October 24, against the Indo-US joint naval exercise to be held in the Arabian Sea.

Addressing the media on Tuesday October 21, B Madhava, secretary, district committee, CPI (M), said it was clear that the main objective of the Indo-US nuclear deal is a strategic alliance between the two countries. As per this, the ‘Malabar Exercise’ will begin in the Arabian Sea from October 24.

Expressing concern over the naval exercise Madhava said that the UPA government had neglected national interest as such an exercise would cause leakage of defence confidentiality. He added that it was clear in America’s Hyde Act that the objective of the exercise is to attack a third country after achieving inter-operability between the two participating nations.

‘Naval exercise is the preface to launching an attack on Iran and other rival countries using India’s armed forces. America has already spoiled the pipeline project between Iran and India’, he added.

Madhava said the politburo member K Varadarajan, state secretary V J K Nayar, as well as state secretary board and state committee members will participate in the protest. The central committee of CPI(M) has given the call for the protest in the coastal states along the  Arabian Sea.

Secretary board members K R Shyam, Ramachandra Uchil, Vasant Achar, and Sunil Kumar Bajal, were present at the press meet.

Instead of Protesting along the beach these CPI (M) leaders should get down into the sea to protest against the exercise, then they can be called as patriots of this nation. Nothing can be achieved by sitting at beach only you can enjoy life for a day, but it's much hot. If you get down at least sea can take some of you near the naval exercise, but please don't blame sea later...!
