Udupi, Oct 21:
B Sudhakar Shetty, took charge as the new chairman of Udupi Urban Development Authority (UUDA) in a function held on Monday October 20. MLA Raghupathy Bhat inaugurated www.uuda.org on the occasion.

It is for the first time ever that an urban development authority in the state has launched a website. Speaking on the occasion, Bhat said that the organization should function by accepting the challenges. In order to achieve significant progress, it should have its own resources for its disposal, he said.

Bhat asked the body to develop quality housing in a systematic manner with the assistance of the locals by eliminating the middlemen.  Modern townships should flourish in the city with planning undertaken by the body, he added.

Shetty thanked chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, home minister Dr V S Acharya, and urban development minister Suresh Kumar, for entrusting him the duty with the recommendation of Bhat. Meanwhile, Shetty urged citizens to support the UUDA in all its endeavours.

Deputy commissioner (DC) Hemalata P, and municipal councilor Dinakar Shetty, were also present on the occasion. UUDA commissioner Gokuldas Nayak compered the programme.
