Mangalore, Oct 20: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner M Maheshwar Rao has said, that from Monday October 20 onwards, vehicular traffic between Bendorwell Circle and Pumpwell Circle via Karavali Circle has been completely banned because of the taking up of concreting work of this stretch of the road.
Till the work is completed, vehicles will move on the alternative routes, as informed below:
Buses coming from B C Road, Talapady etc. towards State Bank will use Kankanady Old Road-Kankanady Circle-Unity Junction-Milagres-Hampankatta route. Buses moving towards B C Road and Kasargod from State Bank should take Hampanakatta-Light House Hill Road-Jyoti-Balmatta-Horticulture Department Circle-Nathoor and NH 17 route.
City buses plying on Light House Hill road towards Valencia should take the Hampankatta-Falnir-Kankanady route while those coming from Valencia direction use the same route. Buses from Mangaladevi to Nanthoor direction should use Kankanady Circle-Falnir Road and take turn at Unity Hospital to proceed through Vas Lane and join Balmata Road near Mangalore Nursing Home and take the Horticulture department Circle and Nanthoor.
The release has instructed the vehicles to maintain minimum speed and avoid strong horns as these roads pass through hospitals and residential areas. For the time being, this will be one way, it said.
Buses plying towards B C Road and Kasargod from KSRTC bus stand should use PVS-Bunts Hostel Circle-Mallikatte route.
City and service buses from PVS Circle-Bunts Hostel-Jyoti to Kankanady direction should use PVS-Bunts Hostel-Mallikatte-Nanthoor-Pumpwell-Old Kankanady road. Buses from Nanthoor side to Mangaladevi should use Nanthoor-Pumpwell-Old Kankanady road.
Heavy vehicles from Mangaladevi to Pumpwell should use Marnamikatte-Morgans Gate-Mahakalipadpu route. Light vehicles to use Valencia-Sooterpet-Ujjodi route. Heavy vehicles plying from Nanthoor to Kankanady should use the Horticulture department Circle-Balmata-Shanti Church-Falnir road.
Parking is prohibited on Old Kankanady road on either sides, while vehicular movement from Kankanady circle to Pumpwell circle is banned.
Goods vehicles from Old Port and goods shed to pumpwell should use Cascia-Jeppu Market-Makalipadpu-NH 17 route, the release elaborated.
