Kasargod, Oct 20: A man bringing saffron into the country illegally was nabbed at Kozhikode airport. The director of the intelligence department arrested Mustafa, a resident of Kumble for concealing 19 kg of saffron in his luggage.

Mustafa traveled from Dubai via Muscat on an Oman Airways flight to Khozikhode international airport. The saffron is thought to be imported from Iran and worth Rs 19 lac.

It was kept in 38 packets of 500 grams each and brought for distribution in Kerala said the officer from the directorate of revenue intelligence.

The police obtained a Dubai mobile number from Mustafa, but there was no response when called. The investigation is on.

    "Kasargod: Man Smuggling Saffron into Country Arrested" when I read this headline, I thought the person may be some RSS guy. Isn't this a great national integration - a Muslim man smuggling Saffron in to the country?
