Jammu and Kashmir to have Seven-phased Election from Nov 17

New Delhi, Oct 19: The Election Commission of India on Sunday announced seven-phased poll in Jammu and Kashmir.

Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalswami announced this at a press conference in New Delhi. The polling dates are November 17, 23, 30, December 7, 13, 17 and 24. Counting of votes will take place on December 28.

The announcement comes after a full-bench of the Election Commission led by Gopalaswami visited Srinagar last week to assess the situation in the state and consulted with all stakeholders.
