Udupi, Oct 18: 'Suyoga-Swodyoga', a Stree Shakti Self-help Group Convention cum self employment information camp, being organized by the Paryaya Puttige Math here, in association with the zilla panchayat, was inaugurated at Rajangan in Sri Krishna Math here, today morning.
State higher education minister Arvind Limbavali inaugurated the camp. In his inaugural address, Limbavali praised the swamijis of the religious organizations for having taken up the task of augmenting employment and helping the unemployed to become self-employed. He thanked the Swamijis for doing what the government has not been able to do affectively. "Many of the government schemes and programmes remain in files, without being properly implemented. Because of the lack of publicity and proper awareness, several government programmes fail to achieve desired results. Maths, non-governmental organisations and non-profit institutions should assist the government in effectively implementing its schemes and in ensuring that the benefit from the schemes reach the targetted families," he said.
"If all the schemes launched since the country's independence had been properly implemented,our country would never have been encountering the problem of un-employment by now. The present state government is giving thrust to self-employment schemes and projects. Individuals and private enterprises should come out to help people to become self employed, by training them to pursue viable self-employment units and also by creating more scope for self-employed persons," he urged.
Under the University Grants Commission, a new course named ADAM will be launched soon in the state. This course aims at providing training and knowledge to people so that they become employable by the information technology and bio-technogy companies, he explained.
At present, Sanskrit universities are functioning only in 12 states. A new Sanskrit university will be set up here during the next year. At present, those pursuing Sanskrit studies in the state, are not able to get degrees. Once the univeristy starts functioning, they will get degrees, he added.
Paryaya Puttige Math Swamiji Sugunendrateerta, Shirur Math Swamiji Laxmivarateerta, Bheemanakatte Math Swamiji Raghumanya, State Finance Commission chairman A G Kodgi, Corporation Bank deputy general manager Raghav Kamath, Syndicate Bank deputy general manager Sujir Prabhakar, Enterpreneur Pramod Madhwaraj, District Milk Union president Kaup Diwakar Shetty etc., were present.
MLA K Raghupati Bhat presided. An exhibition-cum-sale of products manufactured by various Stree Shakti self-help groups was also arranged.
The programme was compered by Gopalacharya. Umesh Bhat welcomed. Zilla panchayat deputy secretary Pranesh Rao delivered introductory address.
