Udupi, Oct 18:
The local fishermen’s association has learned of a secret meeting between the officers of Tebma Shipyard and top government officials, which gives rise to suspicion about their agenda, said Hirianna T Kediyoor, president of the fishermen’s association, in a press conference on Friday October 17.

The alleged meeting was held in Bangalore on Friday without any representation from the fishermen’s association. This occurred despite a notice from the deputy commissioner (DC) to the association informing them that the meeting will be convened on Friday at the district headquarter and be attended by officers of Tebma Shipyard and officials of Public Works Department (PWD) and fisheries department, said Kediyoor.

The association said that any decisions taken at Bangalore without their representation will not be applicable to them and they will not be responsible for the losses and consequences of fishermen’s agitations that are in the offing. Rama Kanchan, Janardhan Tingalaya, Vijay Bangera, Sudhakar Kotian, and Gopal Kunder, along with the local fishermen were present at the press conference.
