Karkala, Oct 17: On Thursday October 16, the body of a woman named Mamata (20) was found floating in Shambhavi river near Gurkundi Pade of Bola village in the taluk. It is thought that her husband disposed off her body by throwing it into the river, after murdering her.

Mamata was the wife of Vishwanath from Ijjedigudde of Bola village. Her body bears wounds. Mamata's mother Sumati, in a complaint filed with the rural police station has alleged that her son-in-law killed Mamata before dragging her body upto the river bank and tossing it into the river. There are marks on the river bank to prove that he had dragged her body to the river, she has said.
