Nun Rape Case Accused to Undergo DNA Test

Baliguda (Kandhmal), Oct 17:
With the police deciding to conduct DNA test on the person suspected to be the prime accused in the Kandhmal nun rape case, defence counsels on Thursday cast aspersions on the investigation by questioning the arrest of two father-son duos in connection with the sensational crime.

Even as the three accused in the August 25 rape case were produced before the sub-divisional judicial magistrate, Bhubaneswar on Thursday, defence lawyers — Jyoti Ranjan Das and S K Patra — pointed out that of the eight people arrested so far, six are close relatives.

According to them, Jhuria Pradhan (50) is the father of Kartik Pradhan (28), while Muna Bhadei is the son of Saroj Bhadei. Tapas Patnaik and Mitu Patnaik are brothers. The other two are Biren Sahu and Somanath Pradhan.
