The state-level Aser master trainer’s workshop, jointly organized by the Aser Centre, New Delhi, Centre for Rural Studies, Manipal University, and Akshara Foundation, Bangalore, began at the Manipal planetarium, on Thursday October 16.

The four-day event will conclude on Sunday October 19. Manipal University registrar Dr G K Prabhu inaugurated the workshop on Thursday morning.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Prabhu said that compulsive teaching is not advised.  We are empowered to impart studies as demanded by our nation, region, and vocation.  The moral science classes that have been abandoned in the recent past will have to be resumed for grooming future citizens in schools, he asserted.

Sheshadri of Pratam Organization, Mysore, Vijaya Kulkarni of Aser Centre, Bangalore, Bhargavi of Aser Centre, New Delhi, were present on the dais. Dr Krishna of Manipal Rural Study Centre compered the programme.

The trainers for the workshop will also tour the district and undertake a study-survey through house visits in the neighbourhood. Meanwhile, a survey on the study-level of students and evaluation, will be undertaken in 30 villages of all districts across the state on Sunday November 2.  The final report will be made available by January 16.
