Mangalore, Oct 16:
‘Explorations’, a multi-disciplinary refereed research journal was released at Teletorium, St Aloysius College, on Wednesday October 15.
 
Addressing the gathering, guest of honour Prof G V Joshi, chairman, department of economics, Mangalore University, said that prevailing problems in the society can be contained through multi-disciplinary research works.
 
He said, ‘Many of the journals are not multi-disciplinary in nature. Development is a multi-disciplinary concept. Unfortunately, colleges and universities have lost excellent opportunities of academic activities.’
 
Principal Fr Swebert D’Silva SJ said that within two years every post graduate department of the college will have a research cell. ‘Next year we are going to introduce two PG courses-M Sc in Nanotechnology and M Psych’, added Fr D’Silva.
 
Dr Kishori Nayak, chairman, department of English, Mangalore University, Fr Leo D’Souza, director, Lab of Applied Biology, and Dr A Lourdswamy, editor of the journal, also spoke.
